«Without love no eyes are seers»Evocative Concert of the Three Little Shepherds of FatimaAnonymus Choir, the Children Choir of the Gregorian Institute of Lisbon, João Santos (organ)February 20, 2015 Patriarchal Cathedral of Lisbon The Shrine of Fatima promoted the first Evocative Concert of the Three Little Shepherds of Fatima on the day that is annually celebrated the liturgical festivity of the Blessed Francisco e Jacinta Marto (celebrated on the 20th of February 1920 – day of Jacinta’s death). The concert took place in the Patriarchal Cathedral of Lisbon and it was part of the official program of the Centennial of the Apparitions of Fatima. The concert – whose motto «Without love no eyes are seers» was taken from the poem Anátema, of Miguel Torga – featured the Anonymus Choir, the Children Choir from the Gregorian Institute in Lisbon and João Santos, official organist of the Shrine of Fatima. The key moment of the concert was the national premier of the musical piece Drei Hirtenkinder aus Fátima, which Arvo Pärt, considered one of the most erudite composers of contemporary music, dedicated to the Little Shepherds of Fatima, after visiting Cova da Iria, in May 2012. The piece – whose manuscript was published on number 2, of October 2015 edition, in Fátima XXI journal – was composed for mix choir acapella and makes reference to the text of verse 3 of Psalm 8, from which the composer regarded the Little Shepherds as those children from whom the praise rises to the greatness of God. |
