Blessing of the sickThe blessing of sick is already an integral part of the traditional celebration of the anniversary pilgrimages from May to October. The sick persons have to direct to the First Emergency Aid unit where they will be given an authorization to go to their reserved area for the Eucharistic celebration of the 13th. At the end of the celebration, the celebration’s president goes towards the sick persons to bless them with the Blessed Sacrament. The Shrine of Fatima also celebrates the Day of the Sick on February 11, with a proper schedule. |
Blessing of religious objectsThe blessing of religious objects is done every day at the end of the mass celebrations of the official program of the Shrine of Fatima. |
Blessing of vehiclesThe blessing of vehicles takes place every Sunday and religious holy days at 12:45 am and 5:00 pm in the parking lot located behind the Bookshop of the Shrine, for the number of vehicles presents. Note that the celebration of this blessing shall not take place on Good Friday. From May to October, if the 12th is on a Sunday, the blessing of vehicles will only take place at 12:45 a.m. From May to October, if the 13th is on a Sunday, just the 5:00 p.m. blessing will take place. |
“After Our Lady had disappeared into the immense distance of the firmament, we beheld St. Joseph with the Child Jesus and Our Lady robed in white with a blue mantle, beside the sun. St. Joseph and the Child Jesus appeared to bless the world, for they traced the Sign of the Cross with their hands. When, a little later, this apparition disappeared, I saw Our Lord and Our Lady; it seemed to me that it was Our Lady of Dolores. Our Lord appeared to bless the world in the same manner as St. Joseph had done. This apparition also vanished, and I saw Our Lady once more, this time resembling Our Lady of Carmel.”/; Memoirs of Sister Lucia “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” / Eph 1:3 |
