“Young Pilgrim’s Itineraries” Introduces the Shrine and the Message of Fatima to Young PeoplePrayer and cultural itineraries have been prepared specifically for young people travelling to Cova da Iria for WYD Lisbon 2023, and are available from today at www.jmj2023.fatima.pt
The Shrine makes available, from today, on the page https://jmj2023.fatima.pt/en, two itinerary proposals for young pilgrims: one centred on Cova da Iria and the other on the places of Aljustrel and Valinhos. These itineraries can be read and heard in Portuguese and English and aim to offer a prayerful, spiritual and cultural experience of Fatima. The two itineraries invite the young pilgrim to better know the apparitions of Fatima, the spirituality of the seers and the architectural and artistic heritage of Cova da Iria, Aljustrel and Valinhos. They have been designed as part of the initiative to welcome the youngest pilgrims expected in Fatima, in the context of the World Youth Day in Lisbon 2023. The first proposal, focusing on the central places of Cova da Iria, begins by presenting a brief history of the event of Fatima and a summary of the Message of Fatima, and then proposes an itinerary that begins and ends at the Chapel of the Apparitions, visiting the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity and the High Cross. The second proposal, which leads the pilgrims to Aljustrel and Valinhos, presents a brief biography of the seers and their spirituality and visits the childhood places of Lucia, St Francisco and St Jacinta Marto: their houses, the well of Arneiro, the monument of Valinhos and Loca do Cabeço. In both cases, the pilgrims will have access to a map of the places and the proposed itinerary. The young pilgrim's itineraries can be listened to and downloaded, in Portuguese and English, in the prilgrimage routes menu on https://jmj2023.fatima.pt/en and will also be made available in Spanish, French, Italian, Polish and German, in leaflet format, in the dispensers located at the main entrances of the Shrine and at the information points of the Prayer Area and in Aljustrel. Both in the leaflets and at the dispensers, the digital format can be downloaded through a QR code. |
