The Vatican’s Spokesman presented this Tuesday the coming visit of Benedict Xvi to Portugal, on May 11 thru 14, emphasizing the importance the Shrine of Fatima has for the Pope. “Fatima is a particularly meaningful place for this Pope”, said Fr.Lombardi, who added that the Portuguese Shrine is the heart of the trip. To Fr. Lombardi, there is an obvious relationship of Benedict XVI with the events of Cova da Iria, which the still Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger dealt with “from the theological and spiritual point of view”. “Fatima is a place where one takes a wide look in order to meditate on history”, said the Head of the Holy See’s Press Office, at a meeting with journalists for the presentation of the visit’s program.
