Starting in Advent, on the third Saturday of every month, the Shrine of Fatima invites the younger ones to a special program, just tailored for them. This project, titled “Day with Children”, is free and open to all. It begins on December 19 and includes times for celebration of Mass, prayer and catechesis. The remaining “Days”, through November 2010, are on the following dates: January 16; February 20; March 20; April 17; May 15; June 19; July 17; August 21; September 18; October 16; and November 20. Let us recall that, while reflecting on the spirituality of the Message of Fatima, the Rector of the Shrine called the attention, in the Editorial of “Voz da Fátima” (Voice of Fatima), issue of September 13, 2009, to the natural attraction children feel towards Our Lady, Jesus and the Little Shepherds. These are his words: “Children feel a special attraction towards Our Lady, as Mother, and Jesus, as presented to them in the children’s language of the Little Shepherds. They are not indifferent to the life testimony of Blesseds Francisco and Jacinta Marto, with whom they identify in many regards. The experiences had with the children’s pilgrimages, with the times of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, using a children’s language, with the groups of children praying the Rosary, show to us that they feel attracted and enthused”. The program’s schedule is the following: 10h00 –Welcome at ‘Convívio Santo Agostinho’ (Saint Augustine Convivium) 10h15 – Preparation for the celebration of Mass, in Jacinta’s Room, at Saint Augustine Convivium 11h00 – Official celebration of Holy Mass in Most Holy Trinity Church, with the participation of children 12h15 – Catechesis on the Message of Fatima (30 minutes), in Jacinta’s Room 13h00 – Lunch (free) 14h30 – Preparation for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, in Jacinta’s Room 14h45 – Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament 15h30 – Farewell in Little Chapel of Apparitions (15 minutes) |
