Shrine of Fatima takes part in new philatelic collection on the Marian theme
The new stamp was released yesterday evening, during the first thematic guide to the temporary exhibition “Earth and Heaven: pilgrims and saints of Fatima.”
The Shrine of Fatima is one of the three Shrines that takes part in the new philatelic collection, on the Marian theme, which was released by the CTT (Portuguese Post Office).
The stamp and the envelope with the image of the Shrine, whose layout is inspired in the apparitions of the Angel, were introduced yesterday evening during the first thematic guide to the temporary exhibition “Earth and Heaven: pilgrims and saints of Fatima” that is open to the public at the St. Augustine’s Foyer, in the lower floor of the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity.
According to the Rector of the Shrine, Father Carlos Cabecinhas, this is a “wonderful initiative” not only because it helps to spread the presence of the Shrine “that already goes across borders” but also because it “values the experience of the Centennial”, anticipating it with a reference to the angelic apparitions.
“These apparitions are highly relevant because they outline the window that foresees the apparitions of Our Lady and they are, simultaneously, crucial elements of the Message of Fatima”, said the Rector of the Shrine.
In this collection, apart from the Shrine of Fatima, there are also present images of the Shrine of Schoenstatt, in Germany and of Mariazell, in Austria.
