The Family of St. John of God – Brothers and workers of the Hospitaler Order – starts next Monday, October 22, their LXVIII General Chapter being held in the Retreat House of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, at the Shrine of Fatima. Eighty Brothers from 20 Provinces, a Vice-Province and two General Delegations, together with 20 lay workers, are going to meet to celebrate the LXVIII General Chapter of the Order. During three weeks, the Family of St. John will study the “Instrument Laboris”, prepared by the Preparatory Committee and approved by the General Definitory, and will try to understand and accept the reality of the Order and its preoccupation for the future, manifested in documents and reflections of the Church and of the Order. The central theme is “The Family of St. John” and it will try to study, clarify and foresee new horizons for the future of hospitality, which is what the Order does in 53 countries, by means of 311 apostolic works, which provide, every year, assistance and health care to an average of twenty million people.
