06 december, 2011

As in previous years, the Shrine of Fatima invites visitors and pilgrims to show solidarity with the poor by being generous in the offertories of the main official Masses of the Shrine of Fatima, during this month of December.
The offertories collected during the osculation of the Child Jesus are earmarked to help the poorest of the poor. These monies will be handed over to Caritas.
Let us remind you that, at a meeting in Fatima on November 13, the General Council of the Portuguese Caritas warned about an increase of poverty in an ever increasing number of families and revealed that, in the first 10 months of 2011, the diocesan branches of Caritas helped about 28,000 Portuguese families, which represents “a significant increase over the same period of last year”.
Christmas schedule of events is available on this site, on “Agenda”.
