Thirty years after its inauguration on May 13, 1982, by Pope John Paul II, Paul VI Pastoral Center was object of improvement work started in 2011. This work will soon be concluded and the Center will reopen on March 10. The solemn opening ceremony is scheduled for 15h00 with the blessing of the entire building by Bishop António Marto, of Leiria-Fatima. The presentation of the improved edifice will take place immediately afterwards, in Salão do Bom Pastor (Good Shepherd Hall). The announcement of the reopening date was made on February 9, during a meeting of Hoteliers and people in charge of Religious Houses which receive pilgrims in Fatima. The Rector of the Shrine, Fr. Carlos Cabecinhas, listed the various uses of the building: support of pilgrimages, venue for activities related to studies, formation and shows, as well as lodging. The Rector went on to say that the improvement work benefited the building specially in what pertains to the levels of lighting, accesses, safety and comfort. |
