The Anniversary International Pilgrimage on September 12 and 13 will be presided over by his Excellency Wilmar Santin, bishop of Itaituba, Brazil. At the Press Room of the Sanctuary, he said this was his first visit as a bishop, in spite of having already visited Fatima several times, "all of them a beautiful experience of faith." For this pilgrimage, under the theme "Blessed are those invited to the Lord´s Supper," the Brazilian bishop asks and prays that "the participants return to their homes with the desire of imitating Mary in listening to and living the Word of God." Native of a country that now "is going through difficult times, with many accusations of corruption, increased violence, drug abuse and a worrying rise of atheism," bishop Wilmar claims that the Fatima Message “invites us to trust in the promise” of Jesus: “In the world ye shall have tribulation, but take courage! I have overcome the world.” (Jn 16: 33). João Francisco Gomes |
