For 32 years in a row, the Shrine of Fatima invites hoteliers and people in charge of religious houses of this shrine-city that receive pilgrims to an annual meeting with the Shrine. Other local and regional personaliti4es have also been invited. The event will begin at the Little Chapel of Apparitions, at 15h00, with the celebration of Holy Mass, followed by the meeting itself, at 16h00, at the House of Our Lady of Sorrows. At an important time for the Portuguese Church, which prepares to receive His Holiness Benedict XVI in May, the Rector of the Shrine of Fatima emphasizes this papal pilgrimage as a privileged occasion to welcome the Pope and the pilgrims of Fatima. Let us hear Fr. Virgílio Antunes, Rector of the Shrine of Fatima: “The year just started is for all of us, whose job is to receive pilgrims, a privileged time, full of important happenings. We are going to receive Holy Father Benedict XVI and, with him, thousands of pilgrims who will be visiting Fatima at that time. Besides this event, which we look forward to, we will celebrate, in some special way, the 10th anniversary of the Beatification of Little Shepherds Francisco and Jacinta and also the 100th anniversary of the birth of Jacinta”. |
