Fatima Shrine challenges its workers to learn more about the message of Fatima

On its way to the Centennial, the Fatima Shrine provides moments of training to their workers, in order for them to deepen the knowledge about the history of the apparitions.

The Retreat House of Our Lady of Mount Carmel takes in throughout this week another course on the Message of Fatima. This edition has a very special group: a group of 130 workers of the Shrine of Fatima. These workers belong to different services, from information staff, security, laundry, secretarial staff, cleaning, and gardening. The perception of Sister Angela Coelho is that “they are learning with a great joy." The postulator of the cause of Blessed Francisco and Jacinta Marto and vice-postulator of the cause of Sister Lucia, Sister Angela Coelho, declared to the Press Service that she was "very happy to talk about the message for the first time to a group that works for the Shrine and dedicates his work to the pilgrims.

"Some participants have many years of work and dedication. It is almost a special responsibility and a good challenge", Sr. Angela Coelho said a few minutes before starting another unit, this morning.

The regular layout of the course on the Message of Fatima has nine editions, always under the guidance of Sr. Angela. "It is very different to prepare other groups and this group that works here, and workers feel that. To work here means that an event occurred here and had originate this place and this work. The group is captivated by the knowledge of his mission in this so special place", the postulator of the cause of Blessed Francisco and Jacinta Marto explained.

"The message of Fatima is based on the biography of three children who died. Now it's our turn to welcome the message in our lives and to honor this work", states Sr. Angela Coelho.

Ana Vazão, computer technician, works in the Fatima Shrine for a few months now and seems to be quite surprised “it is very different from what I expected. I don’t work directly with pilgrims but I come across them and it is important to understand the history and the origin of this shrine. "

"The class is very interesting. It helps us spiritually to know more about the history of Fatima. It is a bonus for us to develop our work when we welcome the pilgrims”, said Alvaro Aquino, Vigil in the Shrine of Fatima since 2003.

This group follows the first shift of the course on the message of Fatima, and will be complemented by a spiritual retreat during Lent. The second course shift will begin at the end of this month.
