The Shrine of Fatima resumes, this November, a cycle of monthly conferences. This initiative holds several sessions until the month of March 2010, always on the second Sunday of every month. All of them are embellished with a short musical concert by the head organist of the Shrine of Fatima, Mr. Nicolas Roger. Saint Nuno de Santa Maria, the new Portuguese Saint, will be the subject of the two first conferences. On November 8, Jesué Pinharanda Gomes will talk about “Our Lady in the Life of Saint Nuno de Santa Maria" On December 13, Fr. Luciano Cristino will lecture on the “Nuno Álvares Pereira passed through Fatima in 1385”. Between January and March 2010 the Shrine of Fatima proposes a new thematic panel, in order to help us reflect on the theological, doctrinal, spiritual and pastoral theme of the priesthood: -January 10: Most Rev. Antonio Francisco dos Santos, Bishop of the Diocese of Aveiro, will speak on Theology and Spirituality of the Priesthood. -February 14: journalist Aura Miguel will speak on Admirabile Commercium – How a lay journalist views the priesthood. March 14: Most Rev. Carlos Azevedo, Auxiliary Bishop of Lisbon, speaks on Today’s Challenges to living the priesthood, taking the Curé of Ars as a model. Around the 100th Anniversary of the implantation of the Republic in Portugal, it is also scheduled for October 10, 2010, a conference on the “100th Anniversary of the Implantation of the Republic in Portugal”, by António Teixeira Fernandes. The main incentive for continuing with this initiative is, in the words of the Rector, the high interest and participation in the first cycle of conferences, held between November 2008 and Easter 2009. Month after month, the different lecturers delved, from different angles, into the life, work and testimony of Saint Paul. |
