Children are the great protagonists in welcoming Pope Benedict XVI on his arrival at the Shrine of Fatima on May 12, at 17h30. Around the Little Chapel, where the Pope will go to as soon as he enters the Esplanade of the Shrine (Prayer Area), there will be the children who attend Catechesis classes in the Parish of Fatima. In the choir will be the children of the Children’s Choir of the Shrine of Fatima, most of them from the Parish of Fatima and surrounding towns. Practice is going on, as usual, in an atmosphere of joy and great energy, but, this time, the enthusiasm of the children of “Schola Cantorum Pastorinhos de Fatima” (School of Singers Little Shepherds of Fatima) is greater, because they were the ones picked to welcome Holy Father Benedict XVI on his arrival at the Little Chapel of Apparitions. Let us hear Maestro Paulo Lameiro: “First of all, there is great interior joy due to the moment our children of “Schola Cantorum” are going to live. Then, an enormous responsibility, since to receive the Pope at the ‘Altar of World’, there at the feet of Our Lady, in the Little Chapel, is also a very demanding moment musically. We’ll try to receive all the blessings of this visit, so that our little shepherds of today and the music we play at the Shrine may receive the Divine Inspiration which nurtures us”. |
