Archbishop Jorge Ortiga, of Braga, President of the Bishops Committee for Social Pastoral Ministry and Human Mobility, will preside over the International Pilgrimage of August 12/13, scheduled to officially begin at 18h30, in the Little Chapel of Apparitions. This year, the Pilgrimage’s theme will be “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord”. As part of the 40th National Week of Migrations (August 12 thru 19), an initiative of the Bishops Committee for Social Pastoral Ministry and Human Mobility, The Portuguese Catholic Work of Migrations (OCPM) organizes these days in Fatima the Pilgrimage of the Migrant, this year under the motto: ‘Celebrating the Memory in order to Project the New Evangelization of the Future’. Friar Francisco Sales Diniz, Director of OCPM, in recent declarations to News Agency Ecclesia, had this to say: “The year 2012 is a special year for celebrating, together, the historical feat of 50 years of the Mission of the Church in Portugal amongst the Portuguese emigrants spread throughout the world, as well as for rejoicing with the encounter of the cultural and religious diversity of peoples”. |
