| April 24 – Easter Concert A concert by the Choral Academy of Dortmund (Germany) is scheduled for April 24, Easter Sunday. It is to be performed in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, starting at 15h00. This choral group brings to Fatima 34 elements, which will also take part, the following day, April 25, in the III Meeting of Children’s April 25, 2011 - III Meeting of Children’s Choirs at Shrine of Fatima Concert at 16h00 For the third time in a row, the Shrine of Fatima receives the Meeting of Children’s Choirs, this year on April 25. The following choirs will take part: Schola Cantorum Little Shepherds of Fatima – from the Shrine of Fatima; Youth Choir of Mount Carmel – from Beja; Vox et Communio Choir – from Penacova; Children’s Choir of Santa Catarina da Serra – from Leiria: and Choral Academy of Dortmund – from Germany. After time for practice and a get together of the members and directors of the several choirs, the concert will begin at 16h00, in Most Holy Trinity, at the Shrine of Fatima. The concert will last about an hour and a half. Admission is free. May 1 – Concert in memory of John Paul II On May 1, day when John Paul II will be beatified, at the Vatican, by Benedict XVI, the Shrine of Fatima plans to have a concert in memory of this Pope who three times peregrinated to Fatima. It is to be performed in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, starting at 16h00. Groups participating are: Grupo Coral AdesbaChorus (Barreira, Leiria) and a string orchestra. At the organ: João Santos; at the drums: Tiago Cordeiro. All under the direction of Jorge Narciso and Rita Pereira. “Totus Tuus” – The Concert will conclude with the hymn “Totus Tuus Maria” of A. Cartageno, since this was the motto of John Paul II and the hymn of one of his three pilgrimages to Fatima. |
